April 9 2010 More press about The KINGS from Norwalk!

In his blog Cary's Comics Craze writer Cary Ashby (also of the Norwalk Reflector) once again relates a story about the KINGS and their encounter with current Kiss band member Eric Singer:

"Several years ago, Kings performed at a KISS convention which Singer attended. The tribute band played an acoustic set that reflected the entirety of KISS' "MTV Unplugged" show from Aug. 9, 1995. It was Singer's last gig with the band before rejoining KISS for the 2001 leg of the "Farewell Tour."

"He enjoyed the show. He thought we did a great job," recalled Jay LaSalle, who portrays KISS frontman and rhythm guitarist Paul Stanley in Kings."

April 8 2010 The KINGS featured in the Norwalk Reflector

The Midwest's hottest KISS tribute are slated to perform at the Norwalk Main Street Theatre in Norwalk Ohio on April 17. Recently, the band was interviewed by Cary Ashby of the local newspaper, the Norwalk Reflector, excerpted below.

KISS tribute band to play in Norwalk
by Cary Ashby.

"Norwalk Main Street Theatre owner Teresa LaFountain and her husband were inspired to book Kings after the couple saw the band in the New Year's Eve concert in Kalamazoo, Mich.

"(We) thought they we so good and had the KISS moves, makeup and sound so down that we thought it would be so much fun to have them perform in Norwalk. We always try to bring in acts that are unique and that we think people will be interested in coming out to see. These guys definitely are worth coming out to see."

Oct. 7 2009 The KINGS Reviewed by ChicagosRock.com

Mario Salazar of ChicagosRock.com had the opportunity to see the KINGS perform recently at Chicago City Limits and wrote up a stellar review, excerpt below.

The KINGS OF THE NIGHTTIME WORLD take over City Limits!
Report and Photos by Mario Salazar.

"It is clear to see that the band, have spent quite some time studying not just the music, but the mannerisms and stage antics of the band they're emulating. The harmonies between LaSalle and Leonard were just dead-on perfect. Schenk's posture & the way he stood while playing certain parts as Ace was also perfect. Instrumental solos were also pretty accurate with plenty of guitar heroics from the Space Ace, while later a green haze and gloomy overtones set the mood for the Demon's solo which culminated with him spitting blood and going into 'God of Thunder'. Melze's (Catman) rendition of both 'Hard Luck Woman' and 'Beth' were actually, -in my opinion-, sung better than Peter Criss himself at times. The original Starchild (Paul Stanley) is one-of-a-kind, but LaSalle does an incredible job emulating him in many aspects of the performance and this makes for a great show experience. All in all, they played a very good, entertaining and musically-accurate show that as both, a music fan and a KISS fan, I have no problem in recommending to others."

Aug. 31 2009 The KINGS Reviewed in the Milwaukee Examiner

The KINGS rocked the Gasthaus Bar & Grill this past weekend and Kellie Levans, of the Milwaukee Rock Music Examiner, was there. Read her review below, or checkout the original post here.

KINGS OF THE NIGHTTIME WORLD: Heating up Milwaukee and Chicago
August 31, 2009 - Milwaukee Rock Music Examiner Kellie Levans

I had a chance to see Kings of the Nighttime World with my friend James from St.Rebel Photography. I was looking forward to a good time but I was not expecting to be totally blown away. From the first sound check I was so impressed with the harmonies between the two leads (Paul and Gene), Ace just kicked it, and Peter was thunderous. After spending two hours with the guys doing hair and make-up, I realized this was a job. Three hours for hair and costume, with assistance, including myself helping. The lights and sound guys had done a phenomenal job, and the stage was now ready. With the drop of the curtain, Strutter blared out and the crowd went wild. The three hour show was worth every second of it. The fun, music , and excitement left me feeling as if I was watching the real thing. The tribute was almost better then the real thing because these four guys had so much fun and rocking energy. I was watching four masters of their talent and tailored and studied in old school Kiss! See the Kings of the Nighttime World on Myspace.

Thanks are due everyone in attendance this past week, for making our performance at Bobby Rockets one for the history books! Congratulations go to Ron Melze on his stellar debut as The Catman on Saturday night. Ron worked extremely hard over the past several months to learn and perfect virtually every song in the vast KISS catalog. Ron (who is also the drummer for the Chicago-area classic rock outfit Pandemonium) looked great in the Catsuit, and his drumming and vocal abilities are tremendous assets to the KINGS. Welcome aboard Mr. Melze!

Special thanks to Jason Gibbs for lending his incredible chops to Saturday night's performance. Jason (who portrays Ace Frehley in the Kiss tribute band Dressed To Kill Show) has worked with the KINGS on numerous occasions over the past year and a half. Apr. 3, 2006 Kings in the Chicago Sun-Times!

In an article appearing in the Sunday online addition of the Chicago Sun-Times, the KINGS are listed among other Chicago-area bands that play tribute to the classics... bands like Animation (Rush) and American English (The Beatles). The lead-in piece looks at the phenomenon that is Tributosaurus and is quite worth the read as well.

Thanks to the Sun-Times' Thomas Conner for including the KINGS!

Jan. 6, 2006 Kings on the Discovery Channel!

The KINGS received a very special holiday gift, courtesy of the Discovery Channel. On Dec 29, 2005 the Discovery Channel aired a program entitled Pop Nation. The show devoted one of it's 3 segments that evening to KISS and included a mention of the KINGS when the topic of tribute bands arose. Discovery Channel also proudly displayed the KINGS as shown in their current promo photo during this portion of the show. Needless to say, we are thrilled with this high profile exposure.

A special thanks goes out to producer Jake Laufer for introducing the KINGS to a national television audience.

Stay tuned for more info on when this program will be replayed.

Thanks Discovery Channel!

The boys have just finished an interview with Punky Mendoza, one of the guitarists from the '80s band Heavy Pettin' (pictured on the right). Punky's website is a collection of interviews he has conducted and links to music-related sites including Majesticrock.com (the recording label that recently reissued several Heavy Pettin recordings on CD) and his own digital art gallery.

Punky is also a huge KISS fan. He has conducted several interviews with other KISS tributes, all of which are posted on his site. Click here to read his interview with the KINGS!

Oct. 12, 2004 It's All About The Fans!
One thing we like to point out is how we're fans too. When we're not on stage, we're in front of one, looking up. One of the more surprising benefits of our current situation is the occassion to meet & greet with some of Rock's best artists in a more personal setting, musicians whose music we grew up with and still listen to.
We thought we'd share with you a few autographs we've collected along the way.

Eric Singer was a guest speaker at Kiss Fest in Elgin, Illinois, back in Sept. of 2002. We had the chance to exchange a few words and got his autograph on one of our promo photos of the time (click for a closer look)

Warrant was on the bill at this summer's Rockin' on the Runway fest in Columbus, Nebraska (along with the KINGS, of course). They were very personable and professional, fun to hang out with. The boys were nice enough to sign this year's model (again, click for closer look):
